Yeah first few are monetizable with skins as well. Rockstar has kept GTA 5 alive for 10 years now.
And I think when a franchise has been succesfully kept alive for long enough, the nostalgia factor becomes high for more people, which increases room for at least some fuck ups.

I'd buy the game developers with long lasting franchises. GTA, Diablo, Fantasy Westward Journey, Final Fantasy, etc
